The Cobb County Elections Office needs to hire additional poll workers, especially in the east Cobb area, for the Nov. 6 election.

Applications are being accepted now at CobbElections.org/pdf/PollWorkerBrochure.pdf.

A poll worker must be a U.S. citizen, Cobb County resident, at least 16 years old, able to read, write and speak English and not have any felony conviction in the last 10 years.

If chosen by an area supervisor, payment per election will be $200 for poll managers, $150 for assistant poll managers and $115 for clerks.

Poll workers also are paid $15 to help set up the poll to which they are assigned.

Before being considered for Poll Manager or Assistant Poll Manager positions, poll workers must work at least one election.

In addition before they can work at a poll, workers are paid for attending mandatory training - $20 for a three-hour class or $30 for a four-hour class.

Workers must arrive at 6 a.m. on Election Day and stay until about one hour after the polls close at 7 p.m.

Poll workers must provide their own transportation to their scheduled class and to the poll on Election Day.
