If you know a child going through an obsessed-with-trains phase, the Southern Museum could earn you a big hug.

On Dec. 9, a Saturday, the museum is again holding its Polar Express Adventure, which will feature a decked-out historic locomotive, a walkable Santa’s workshop and a visit by Santa Claus.

There will also be model trains to play with and a showing of the 2004 animated holiday heartwarmer “The Polar Express,” which stars the voice of Tom Hanks.

In addition, dancers from the British Academy of Performing Arts, which has a school in Marietta, will give a show.

Between performances, there will be readings of the 1985 book of the same name upon which the movie is based.

As for dress code, the downtown Kennesaw museum says: "Come to the event in your fuzziest PJs to get into the spirit of the movie!"

Adult tickets are $7.50, those 60 and older pay $6.50, tickets for children ages 4 to 12 cost $5.50, and it's free for those younger. Tickets can be bought online.
