The 2008 death of a Marietta teacher will receive national exposure Wednesday evening when a cable channel shines a spotlight on the hunt for her alleged killer.

The case against Juan Lazaro-Abrego, who is accused of killing Elizabeth Bowie, will be featured at 10 p.m. Feb. 27 on Investigation Discovery’s “In Pursuit with John Walsh.” The cable show is hosted by the man who was the face of the long-running “America’ s Most Wanted” television series.

Bowie, 28, a seventh-grade teacher in the Marietta City School System, was found dead inside her Smyrna apartment in July 2008. The Cobb County District Attorney’s Office said Bowie was strangled to death, and Lazaro-Abrego, now 40, was identified as the suspect.

The District Attorney’s Office said Lazar-Abrego fled to Mexico where he remains in hiding, and its Major Crimes Unit has investigated the case for more than a decade.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office at 770-499-4633.
