Cobb County Judge Ken Nix, who resigned this week amid allegations that he improperly touched two county workers, sent a letter of apology to the two women on Friday.
"I regret in a previous interview with a reporter it has been perceived by many people as an attempt to place blame on Ms. Treadaway and Ms. Roberts for the events which eventually led to my decision to retire a few months earlier than I had intended," Nix wrote.
Nix, 70, said he invited Assistant District Attorney Susan Treadaway and Investigator Glenda Roberts to pose for a "similar innocent photograph" to ones he takes of attorneys sitting on his knee when he dresses like Santa Claus at Christmas time.
"I extend my apologies to both ladies for misperceptions that may have occurred from the photographs which were published and my interview," he stated.
Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head emailed Nix's letter to the media, adding "there will be no further statements."
On Tuesday, Nix told the Marietta Daily Journal that after the women took the photo, he "flicked them on the fanny." The women have issued a statement saying what happened to them was a crime, but they have not filed a complaint.
