If you watch the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, you might see some familiar faces.

Cobb County’s Lassiter High School band is marching in the iconic parade after raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for the trip to California.

The band began its fundraising efforts at the beginning of the school year, with a goal of $600,000. That figure covers the transportation of all 200 instruments and 200 band members to Pasadena, California, where the band has been since Dec. 27.

A group of parents volunteered to drive the band equipment cross-country, leaving in a giant truck called the “T-Rex” on Christmas night. The students took a flight to Los Angeles on Dec. 27 and have been rehearsing and exploring California in the days since. The band has already performed twice, at Disneyland and at the Rose Parade Bandfest, a festival featuring all bands participating in the Rose Parade performing on a field at Pasadena City College.

The Rose Parade will be broadcast at 11 a.m., Jan. 1 on NBC, ABC, Hallmark Channel and Univision.
