Fire Station 7 near Austell will be replaced and rebuilt by Cobb County.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners recently established the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) of $6,524,927.

The GMP includes all construction costs, project contingency and the original contract amount of $545,277 for design, project fee and general conditions.

John W. Spratlin and Son LLC will provide Construction Manager at-Risk services to build the replacement Cobb Fire Station 7 at 850 Hurt Road, Austell, using 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.

Also, the Cobb Purchasing Department will provide furniture, fixtures and equipment not to exceed $550,000.

Current operational costs for the present Fire Station 7 are $26,000.

Estimated operational costs annually for a larger footprint yet a more energy-efficient facility would be $18,000.

The potential savings with the new facility will be about $8,000 annually.
