Cobb County police confirmed Thursday that Atlanta R&B singer Bobby V is a suspect in a rape investigation.

Sgt. Wayne Delk, county police spokesman, said the report came in early Monday accusing the singer, whose real name is Bobby Wilson.

Delk said it is an active case and could not give out more than the confirmation. Wilson has not been arrested and there is no warrant for his arrest, Delk said.

A representative for Wilson told TMZ, which first reported the allegation, that they are pursing legal action "against what appears to be a weak yet calculated attempt to obtain financial gain through ulterior motives in the matter."

The singer has appeared on songs with Lil Wayne and Ludacris — and has Billboard chart hits of his own.
