A Cobb County restaurant will have to make some changes after failing its most recent food service inspection.
China Moon Restaurant at 2810 Paces Ferry Road Suite 220 in Vinings scored at 58, or U, on the March 11 inspection conducted by the Cobb County Environmental Health Department. Anything below a 70 is considered failing.
According to the inspection report, China Moon Restaurant was cited for employees not washing their hands or using gloves before handling food, not having any soap at the hand sink in the kitchen and uncovered food stored inside a cooler.
Other violations include accumulations of food debris on a slicer, mold on the cutting board, “heavy accumulation” of mold inside the ice machine and food items not holding at their proper temperatures.

Simon Chan, the owner of China Moon Restaurant, said his staff will correct the issues outlined in the inspector’s report.
Chan said he’s been at the Paces Ferry Road location since 1987, and has “never had any customers complain” about the service or cleanliness of the restaurant.
China Moon Restaurant’s previous food inspection scores were a 90 on Dec. 13, 2017, and a 94, on Aug. 8, 2017.
Chan told the AJC that the inspector is scheduled to return for a follow-up inspection on Monday, March 18.
