A replacement aerial 100-foot ladder truck and three replacement engines will be bought by Cobb County for almost $3.5 million.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners authorized these purchases by a 5-0 vote on Feb. 26 from Pierce Manufacturing for the Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services (CCFES) fleet.

All units also will include a Ward No-Smoke Exhaust Control System, according to Fire Chief Randy Crider and Public Safety Agency Director Sam Heaton.

“These essential pieces of Fire/EMS response apparatus have reached the end of their useful service lives and present increasing maintenance and repair issues,” Heaton and Crider said in a Feb. 26 memo to County Manager Rob Hosack.

These replacement vehicles are under the GPO contract price with Ten-8 Fire and Safety Equipment of $1,435,283 for the ladder apparatus and $674,868 each for the three Arrow XT Pumper engines, they added.
