The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 4-1 Tuesday to allow leased condominiums in the Powers Ferry Corridor between I-75 and Windy Hill Road as opposed to for-sale condos.
Commissioner Bob Ott, in whose district this multi-use development will be located, was opposed, saying he wanted the matter to be held for further review.
Lynwood Development Group was granted rezoning from Office High Rise to Urban Village Commercial to allow the condominium and retail development on around three acres at the southwest intersection of Powers Ferry Road and Windy Ridge Parkway.
The six-story Park Point will contain 280 leased condos and 8,000 square feet of retail space.
Opponents call them “rental apartments” that would overcrowd Brumby Elementary School and say most of the 350 Horizon condominium owners in the area are opposed. Yet nearly 50 attending the meeting supported the proposal.
