Roswell Mayor Lori Henry was interviewed by CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Wednesday, about Gov. Brian Kemp’s decision to start reopening the Georgia economy. Henry is the second north Fulton Mayor to be featured on Cuomo’s Prime Time in as many days.

Henry told Cuomo she believes Kemp should’ve waited to allow businesses to reopen, considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. On Monday, Kemp announced that gyms, nail salons, barbers and other businesses  can open Friday. In addition, restaurants and movie theaters can open the following Monday.

Henry said by law, the city is required to follow the governor’s orders but businesses do not have to open if owners do not believe it’s safe to do so.

“Be careful, be safe, shelter in place and don’t let this happen too quickly,” said Henry. “The governor’s order does not require that businesses open. It does not require that citizens attend or go to those businesses.”

On the program, Henry urged citizens and businesses “to be safe, be cautious and open at a slower pace.”

During his Tuesday interview with Cuomo on CNN, Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul said that he was looking for guidance from the state in reopening.
