The oft-delayed groundbreaking of a new elementary school for Clayton County that will include a STEM program for the south metro community has been put off again.

The district, which was supposed to break ground on the new home for White Elementary School pupils on Wednesday, will now hold the groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. March 16.

The culprit of the postponement: rain. Wednesday's rescheduling because of inclement weather is itself a rescheduling from February.

Clayton Schools is building the new school as well as a transportation depot.
