Child centers get help with air quality flags

Fulton County Health Services will provide training and materials for child care centers that want to fly flags each day showing air pollution levels, letting teachers and parents know when to curb outdoor activities. It's the result of a County Commission resolution, sponsored by Vice Chair Emma Darnell, telling staff to find a way to address asthma disparities within Fulton.

The county will work with the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning and the Georgia Head Start Association on the initiative, which will cover Pre-K, Health Start and Early Health Start centers. The program uses different colored flags, ranging from green on the good end to purple on the bad end, to signify air quality.
