A new partnership agreement between Walden University and the Cherokee County School District will allow discounted tuition to district employees, and Cherokee student access to Walden faculty and researchers.

The Cherokee School Board approved an agreement that provides for a 10 percent tuition reduction for district employees for Walden degrees, programs and courses except for the emergency nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner specializations in the Master of Science in Nursing.

Students will have access “to master teachers, researchers and nationally recognized education experts, and practical research-based strategies for improving student outcomes,” the agreement says.

Walden also will provide an orientation session for district employees; allow the district’s human resources office to post job postings with Walden Career Services for recruitment purposes; and consider requests for support and/or sponsorships of district professional development, recruitment and appreciation programs for employees.

The agreement runs through June 20, 2020, and automatically renews for additional terms not to exceed five years.
