Cherokee Schools renew partnerships with PTA, YMCA

The Cherokee County School Board has renewed its annual partnership agreements with the PTA and local YMCAs.

The district’s one-year agreement with the Cherokee County Council of PTA calls for the district and PTA to work together on such issues as grants, scholarships, professional development, child nutrition, English to Speakers of Other Languages policies, and the annual Safety Town program for kindergartners.

In its one-year agreement with the Cherokee Outdoor YMCA, G. Cecil Pruett Community Center Family YMCA and Metro Atlanta YMCA, the district pledges to work with YCMA officials on a bus lease agreement for YMCA summer program, use of school facilities for YMCA programs, and school/YMCA recreational partnerships.

Also, possible joint site/facility development with future school sites, a proposed sprinkler system at Liberty Elementary School recreation fields, a Youth Fit for Life program dealing with childhood obesity, reduced rates for district employees, and field trips including scholarships for low-income students.
