Brooks County High players killed in wreck

Three Brooks County High School football players were killed Tuesday morning when their car hit a tree near their southeast Georgia school.

Personal effects are recovered from a field next to the roadway where debris was scattered up to 100 feet from the crash site.

Members of the Brooks County Sheriff's department document a taillight from the wreckage found 80 feet from the wreckage in a field next to the roadway.

The dead students were identified as rising seniors Jicarre Watkins and Shawn Waters and rising junior Johnnie Parker. A fourth football player was flown to a local hospital where he is in critical condition, school officials said in a press release.

Items from the vehicle, including a Bible, are recovered from the ditch and nearby field where debris was scattered up to a 100 feet away.

Officers investigate the scene of a single vehicle wreck on Webster Road just north of Quitman Tuesday morning. The wreck claimed the lives of three Brooks County football players; Jicarre Watkins, Johnny Parker and Shawn Waters. A fourth occupant, De'Vron Whitfield, also a Brooks football player was life-flighted to Shands Hospital.
