A woman in her 40s is in critical condition after her car went down an embankment near the intersection of Ga. 369 and Yellow Creek Road in Cherokee County, officials said.
The three-vehicle incident happened about 2:30 p.m. in Ball Ground, Cherokee sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said.
A 2- to 3-year-old boy, who was in the car with the woman, bumped his head but was able to talk to paramedics, Cherokee fire spokesman Tim Cavender said.
A white Chevrolet truck went down an embankment on the opposite side of the road, but the driver was able to walk to a nearby ambulance.
That driver’s son was placed on a backboard and was taken to the ambulance, which took all the injured to North Fulton Hospital, Cavender said.
A black Ford pickup truck was also involved, but the driver was not hurt.
A tractor-trailer got stuck on the side of the highway when it veered to miss the other cars, Cavender said. That truck was not damaged but needed assistance to be removed.
The Cherokee sheriff’s office is investigating the cause of the accident.
