Braselton will consider approval of a large mixed-use development on 229.29 acres off State Route 211 North. The request is to develop the property for 460 single-family homes and townhomes, 202,250 square feet of retail/commercial building space, and five additional commercial outparcels.

In Dec. 2000, Braselton approved a plan for more than 1 million square feet of commercial buildings on the site. The plan has been modified a few times, but to date the Vineyards Shopping Center, a bank, gas station and hotel are the only things developed on the acreage.

The proposed Chateau Village would have homes and townhomes at various price points along with a clubhouse, pool, tennis courts and playground. The commercial and retail development would be built along S.R. 211.

The Braselton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the request at 7 p.m. May 20, followed by the Braselton Mayor and City Council public hearing at 4 p.m. June 6 at the Braselton Police and Municipal Court Building, 5040 State Route 53.
