Bragbook for Feb. 7

Brandon Wilson, a senior at Lithia Springs High School, was recognized at the Douglas County Public Schools Board of Education meeting for his selection as one of two students from Georgia for the U.S. Senate Youth Program, a unique educational experience for outstanding high school students interested in pursuing a career in public service. In addition to a weeklong trip to Washington, D.C., Brandon will be awarded a $10,000 college scholarship.

Fayette County’s high schools stomped out the competition at the 2019-2020 Griffin RESA Academic Bowl, with all five high schools representing the Griffin RESA region at the statewide Georgia Regional Academic Bowl on February 22 at Apalachee High School in Winder.

Charles Troutman III, a junior at The Lovett School is the winner of the High School section of the Georgia Scholastic Invitational Chess Championship and will represent Georgia at the Denker Tournament of High School Champions that will be held in St. Louis later this year.

Amber M. Peoples of Atlanta was among more than 300 graduates honored at the Central Methodist University Winter Commencement.

Juan Orellana of Marietta graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University in December.

Maggie Layde of Kennesaw, Schnyder Boucard of Grayson and Zachary Lindsay-Ward of Roswell graduated from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio in December.

Sha-Kila Browning from Dallas graduated from University of South Carolina Aiken in December.

Bria Walton of Jonesboro was one of the nearly 800 graduates to receive degrees at the winter commencement ceremony for Austin Peay State University in December.
