Ball Ground will get a lead on other metro Atlanta communities by holding its annual fireworks show this coming Saturday – but, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be neither a concert nor vendors in City Park, as in past years.

Local restaurants and downtown merchants will be open, according to a city Facebook posting.

Fireworks start at 9:45 p.m. Visitors are advised to find a parking spot and stay in or around their vehicles.

Those who arrive early can set up camp chairs or blankets in City Park, Lions Field or on the Old Dawsonville Road side of the stream at Calvin Farmer Park. The park east of the creek and the Community Building parking lot, tennis courts and basketball courts are fireworks fallout areas and will be closed.

Because of the continuing coronavirus threat, the city asks families and groups that arrive together to maintain six feet of separation from others, and to consider wearing face masks or other coverings, “especially if you pay a visit to our downtown merchants.”
