Avondale Estates City Council will hold a special called work session 5:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza, to cover hot button topics annexation and storm water issues.
Earlier this month the city received a feasibility study by the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, which analyzed two annexation maps. Three of four commissioners (excluding Randy Bebee, who hasn’t commented) have said they favor map No. 1, which includes the commercial district Rio Circle, even though Vinson shows map No. 2 (which has no commercial property) bringing in more tax revenue in the first year.
The commission will weigh public comment and may vote on a final plan to present to the state Legislature.
Monday will also feature a presentation of storm water improvement plans and estimated costs for infrastructure updates and enlarging and connecting pipes to the circa-1960s storm water network.
For at least a decade many residents, particularly on Kensington Road, have suffered regular flooding.
