Atlanta residents’ trash pickup will be delayed a day due to the Labor Day holiday, the city announced.

No garbage, yard waste, recyclables or bulk items will be collected on Monday.

Collection services will resume Tuesday. Residents who typically receive trash pickup on Friday will get services on Saturday.

The History of Labor Day. Although in dispute, the creation of Labor Day is generally attributed to machinist Matthew Maguire of Local 344 in Patterson, NJ. Maguire is though to have come up with the idea as secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York.
