Atlantans have a job to do on Election Day, and part of that job requires brunch-related research.

Lyft wants to help you out with all that.

See, there will be a referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot asking if the city should allow restaurants to serve alcohol as early as 11 a.m. on Sundays. (Current regulations ban restaurants from serving booze until 12:30 p.m.)

Accordingly, the rideshare service is offering a “tongue-in-cheek promotion to remind voters what they’re missing during the time on Sundays they could be boozy brunching,” a press release said.

Anyone taking Lyft to a restaurant in Atlanta between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Sundays from now until the election can get a 50 percent discount up to $5. To apply the discount, which is limited to one discount per person, enter the promo code COULDBEBRUNCHING into the promo section in the Lyft app before beginning the ride.

“We’re excited to celebrate the potential for a revamped Sunday brunch and provide diners with responsible rides,” said Sam Bond, general manager of Lyft southeast.

Gov. Nathan Deal signed the “Brunch Bill” in May, but the law stipulates that each municipality must hold a referendum to approve the time change. The law does not allow retail stores to sell alcohol earlier on Sundays — just restaurants.
