A new list of Georgia's best hotels leads with Atlanta, Atlanta, Atlanta.

The state already won national acclaim when U.S. News & World Report named The Lodge at Sea Island, on St. Simons Island, as the best hotel in the country in its 2016 rankings. But Atlantans don't have to head all the way to St. Simon's Island for a luxury hotel experience.

Here's a look at Atlanta's top five hotels from U.S. News' 2016 rankings.

Erin Shields, travel editor for U.S. News, said rankings are based on various research measures including reviews by guests as well as awards given by industry leaders such as the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award.

The St. Regis Atlanta. Located at 88 West Paces Ferry Road. The St. Regis offers a AAA Five Diamond luxury resort experience in town. St. Regis Butler Service is offered in each of its 31 of its suites, according to its website. The hotel was also ranked the third-best hotel in Georgia, according to U.S. News. The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. Located at 3434 Peachtree Road. The Ritz-Carlton offers panoramic views of the Buckhead community in a relaxed family-friendly environment. It also offers a bevy of food including, breakfast, snacks, hors d'oeuvres and sweets. The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead was named the fifth-best hotel in Georgia. (Contributed by Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead)

Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta. Located at 3376 Peachtree Road. The Mandarin is within walking distance of several of Buckhead's most famous sights, according to its website. It also offers private gardens, a cafe and bar. (Contributed by Erica George Dines)
