Kobi Simmons will have a chance to show off and boost his draft stock.
The NBA has sent invitations to more than 60 players for its annual combine, where athletes hoping to get drafted can participate in drills to improve their standing with coaches, scouts and general managers from around the league.
Simmons, an Alpharetta native and St. Francis' graduate, is one of those players to get an invitation. The 6-foot-5 guard declared for the NBA Draft about a month ago after spending just one season at the University of Arizona.
The Quest Center in Chicago will host the combine May 9-14. Much of it is usually televised by NBATV. The combine also includes 5-on-5 games, medical exams and team interviews.
Simmons averaged 8.7 points, 1.6 rebounds and two assists per-game for the Wildcats in the 2016-17 season, while also scoring in double-digits in 16 games. He started in 19 games, but eventually fell in the rotation and lost his starting spot. The Wildcats were eliminated by Xavier in the Sweet 16.
The former AJC Player of the Year and McDonald's All-American is likely to be a second round pick, according to mock drafts around the web. DraftExpress has him going at pick No. 55 to the Utah Jazz, while Land of 10 has him going at No. 39 to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Simmons has been working with coach and trainer Ganon Baker to prepare for the draft.
