Uncertainty surrounding the fate of Burkhart's Pub after a controversy that has rendered the bar closed since February appears to be over.

The LGBTQ and drag bar endured weeks of backlash over an owner's personal Facebook posts, including one that used a racial slur about former President Barack Obama. The bar's performers quit in protest, prompting a sharp decline in business.

Now the owners of Oscar's, a gay bar in the same Ansley Square shopping center as Burkhart's, have struck a deal to purchase the bar, Georgia Voice reported Monday.

Owners Chris McDonald and Marco Penna plan to change the bar’s name and open in about a month, the publication said.
