Fulton County Commission Chairman Robb Pitts, who was elected in December to fill the remainder of John Eaves' term when the former chairman stepped down to run for mayor of Atlanta, announced Monday he would seek a full term.
Pitts said he would be seeking the four-year term to continue work on criminal justice reform, improvements to the county elections process and completing the library master plan. He also wants to improve the Fulton County animal shelter, increase funding for programs for seniors and youths and fix the property tax appraisal system.
"The expectations of Fulton County residents are really very straightforward," Pitts said in a statement. "They want consistent leadership and a government that works. That is my commitment."
Pitts was a county commissioner from 2002 to 2014 before he was reelected last year. Qualifying for the seat begins next week.
