A remembrance ceremony and a moment of silence for the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be held Friday at DeKalb County’s 9/11 memorial site.

The ceremony will include the laying of a wreath in front of a memorial sculpture, the playing of taps and the sounding of emergency alert tones as flags are lowered to half-staff.

The memorial sculpture was built in 2011, and it features a steel beam from one of the World Trade Center towers.

The ceremony will be held at 8:46 a.m. at 1950 West Exchange Place in Tucker. First responders, government leaders and community members will attend.
