The Henry County District Attorney’s Office is collecting
donations for domestic violence victims as part of National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
The office is working with Haven House, a domestic violence shelter in Henry, to collect non-perishable food items and hygiene products for local victims.
Suggested items include baby wipes, over-the-counter pain relievers, deodorant, disposable razors, laundry detergent, jelly, peanut butter and toilet paper. Other items include hand soap, household cleaners, canned tuna and chicken, crackers, rice, breakfast cereals and copy paper.
National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which runs April 7-13, is a national movement to promote the rights of and services for victims of crime. This is the second year the District Attorney’s Office has collected donations.
"It is important that we recognize the people we work with every day – victims of crime," District Attorney Darius Pattillo said in a release.
“As part of Victims’ Rights Week, we will be collecting donations for survivors of domestic violence. We are asking the community to help by dropping off food and hygiene products,” he said
Donation boxes are available at various agencies across Henry County, including the city halls of Stockbridge, Locust Grove and Hampton, as well as the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Henry County Police Department.
The deadline for donations is April 10.
