Rejoice, Gwinnett drivers — Ronald Reagan Parkway is getting a $3.2 million facelift.

The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to award the sizable contract to resurface the major thoroughfare, which stretches about seven miles between Snellville and Lilburn.

E.R. Snell Contractors will perform the work. The Georgia Department of Transportation will fund 80 percent of the project and Gwinnett will cover the rest with 2009 SPLOST funds, officials said.

“The parkway serves an important cross-county travel need,” District 2 Commissioner Lynette Howard said in a news release. “We are very grateful to the GDOT for the funding assistance.”

A potential timeline for the work was not provided.
