A town hall meeting on gun safety will be held Thursday in advance of Georgia’s new guns law taking effect July 1.

The forum will include a review of the law, which expands where licensed gun owners may carry their weapons, and teach residents about proper gun use, storage and safety.

The event, sponsored by state Rep. Billy Mitchell, D-Stone Mountain, will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Wade Walker YMCA.

Only law enforcement officers will be allowed to bring firearms to the event because the Wade Walker YMCA is a gun-free zone.
