A former sergeant with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office has announced his intention to challenge Sheriff Neil Warren over leadership of the agency in the 2020 election.

Jimmy Herndon, a Democrat, launched his website and fundraising campaign over the weekend. His platform, as described on his website, emphasizes financial accountability, transparency, employee morale and community trust.

While 2020 qualifying isn’t until next year, Cobb is expected to be highly competitive in many races and candidates have already begun fundraising and campaigning.
