DeKalb County has the second-best government vehicle fleet in the country, according to a national organization’s rankings.

The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas awarded the honor to DeKalb, which keeps its 3,200 vehicles in service more than 95 percent of the time, according to the county.

In addition, the DeKalb Fleet Maintenance Division achieved high customer service ratings, increased the number of alternative fuel vehicles, refurbished 50 law enforcement vehicles and reduced diesel and gasoline consumption last year.

No other fleet division in Georgia made the list. Ventura County in California was ranked No. 1.
