Google to Open First Retail Store The Chicago Tribune reported Google is preparing to open a retail store. The tech giant is expected to sign a deal to take over a 14,000-foot retail space in Chicago. This would put Google in better competition with Apple, Microsoft and Amazon. A retail store would better help the company show off its products. The list of Google’s gadgets keeps growing The only retail presence Google has had in the past is small shops in bigger retailers such as Best Buy.

"This is indeed our first store in Fayette County, part of our continued investment there on the heels of our tech partnership recently with Pinewood Forest," said Alex Horwitz, a spokesman for the company.

In 2017, Pinewood partnered with Comcast to bring 1 gig broadband to residents of the mixed-use development and 10 gigs to the community's businesses.

The new store will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

“Fayette County continues to establish itself as a quickly growing section of greater Atlanta, so we are seeking ways to meet this commercial and residential growth,” Horwitz said.
