Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has been posting pictures on social media as she prepares Christmas dinner for her family this year. But one particular dish prompted a side of shade from the internet.
Some folks on Twitter didn’t seem to think Bottoms’ macaroni and cheese looked appetizing. Here is a sampling of the shady responses:
“This picture dried out my contact lens.”
“Bless your heart.”
“Her: Who wanna taste the mac & cheese.
Us: ...”
After dozens -- make that hundreds -- of replies, Bottoms logged back on for a light-hearted defense of her skills in the kitchen.
“Lol...For the shady none cooking crew, add more cheese a few minutes at the end & then mix it up to make it juicy. Trust, nothing dry here,” she wrote.
And if her word wasn’t enough, Bottoms said her mother also confirmed it. Yes, the dish did look a little dry, mom said, but it turned out great. She wouldn’t have allowed it on the dinner table if it hadn’t.
But the mayor didn’t get off without a scolding. “That’s what you get for posting,” her mom reportedly said.
Update:
Mayor Bottoms' said on Twitter that the great mac and cheese debate has been the funniest thing that happened to her this year. And she posted a new video of her mother laughing hysterically at all the replies to the original photo.
