The Atlanta school board will hold a public hearing Tuesday on a plan to close Crim Open Campus High School and consolidate the district’s alternative education programs.

Atlanta Public Schools administrators announced last month they will recommend that Crim close at the end of this school year. The proposal includes merging the district's other alternative education programs, West End Academy and the Atlanta Virtual Academy.

The school board is expected to vote on the proposal at its March 4 meeting.

The public hearing is a chance for residents and parents to voice their opinions on the plan for non-traditional schools, which serve students who are in danger of not graduating from high school.

The hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Crim High School, 256 Clifton St. S.E. Those who wish to speak must sign up at least 10 minutes before the meeting starts.

A second public hearing will take place at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Tuskegee Airmen Global Academy, 1654 South Alvarado Terrace, S.W., according to school board documents.
