The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is looking for the best teachers in metro Atlanta, and our readers get to nominate them.
Last year, friends, family, students and co-workers nominated 375 teachers who went above and beyond the call of duty to work with their students and make sure they are successful. Ten teachers from across metro Atlanta were chosen and honored at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Celebrating Teachers Award dinner. They were celebrated for their work — from teaching and putting on Special Olympics to coaching and making sure the numbers added up for math students.
The newspaper believes the best teachers are worth rewarding and encouraging, and we are looking forward to honoring another set of outstanding teachers this year.
If you want to nominate your teacher, your child’s teacher, a co-worker or friend, you can. Be prepared to tell us a bit of what this man or woman does to inspire and encourage students and make sure our next generation is being prepared to begin taking their place in our communities and state.
Nominations are open until June 17 at ajc.com/ctnominate.
The 10 selected honorees will chosen by a panel of academic leaders representing Georgia’s local universities and professional education standards, specialize in a variety of fields.
“Nothing is worth more to parents than knowing that dedicated teachers are educating, inspiring and encouraging their children,” AJC Editor Kevin Riley said of last year’s best teachers. “We believe the very best of the best are worth honoring and giving them the recognition they deserve. It will be a moment of significant pride for the honoree, their family and school.”
The winners will be recognized at an exclusive event hosted by the AJC.
