Fulton County school board members have named several new leaders to serve within the district’s system.

At the board’s meeting last week, it was announced Christopher Shearer, currently an assistant principal at Autrey Mill Middle School, will become Holcomb Bridge Middle School’s new principal. He replaces Joy Schroerlucke, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

In addition, Gonzalo La Cava has been named area superintendent of the Central Learning Community, which represents schools in College Park, East Point, Hapeville and Sandy Springs. In this role he will work with the schools’ leadership to achieve academic goals. Currently the school system’s assistant superintendent for support services, La Cava provides leadership and direction for the planning, implementation and assessment of special education and other programs.

Other new leaders include:

Rob Anderson, who joins the Northeast Learning Community as its new area superintendent, replacing Will Rumbaugh, who is leaving for a position at the Georgia Department of Education. The Northeast Learning Community represents schools in the Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Roswell areas. Anderson currently serves as chief of staff for Fulton County Schools and before that was executive director for the Central Learning Community.

Serena Sacks, who joins the Fulton County schools as the leader of its information technology division. As the current chief information officer and chief enterprise program management officer for Florida Virtual School, she brings more than 25 years of IT and business knowledge to her new position.
