A movement to incorporate a chunk of north DeKalb County has consensus on boundaries but lacks a name.

Groups pushing for two cities that once might have been called Briarcliff and Lakeside have joined forces, and are asking the public to vote online (at lakesideyes.nationbuilder.com/name_survey) for a name of the proposed city. The choices: LaVista, LaVista Hills, Briarlake, Briarton or Briar Vista.

It’s one of several movements that would carve up DeKalb, either through incorporation or annexation into existing cities. It’s driven by dissatisfaction with county governance and with the quality of services including education and policing.
