David A. Thomas took the helm Monday as Morehouse College’s new president.

Here are five of his stated goals:

  • a major capital campaign to raise money for student scholarships, among other needs.
  • making Morehouse a premier institution for research on the black experience.
  • hire more faculty.
  • improve the college's facilities.
  • increase enrollment from the current 2,200 students to about 2,500 students.
