Three incumbent Fulton County school board members were among the candidates who filed paperwork to run for the seats, which are up for grabs in November.

Katha Stuart, who identifies herself as nonpartisan and was appointed to fill an unexpired term that expires at the end of this year, completed the necessary paperwork to run for District 1 seat and is running unopposed. The district includes areas in Alpharetta and Roswell.

Gail Dean, who identifies herself as nonpartisan and has been a board member since 2001, is in the running for District 3, which includes areas in Sandy Springs and East Point and all of Hapeville.

Dean is being challenged by Mustafa Karadeniz, a computer engineer, who identifies himself as nonpartisan.

Linda Bryant, who identifies herself as nonpartisan and has been a board member since 1993, is running unopposed for the District 4 seat. The district includes areas in Chattahoochee Hills, College Park, Fairburn, Palmetto, Union City and southwest Atlanta.
