Atlanta Public Schools has scheduled meetings to gather community feedback on its budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

Two public hearings will take place during school board meetings, starting at 6 p.m. May 6 and June 3 at APS headquarters, 130 Trinity Avenue, SW.

Board members have been reviewing a preliminary general fund budget that exceeds $850 million. They've also reviewed two different compensation plans for employees. In one, teachers would receive an average pay increase of $3,000. In a more conservative plan, teachers would receive an average pay raise of $2,000.

The district also plans four community meetings, with each one beginning at 6 p.m. The dates for those are:

  • May 9 at Inman Middle School, 774 Virginia Avenue, NE
  • May 13 at Benteen Elementary School, 200 Cassanova Street, SE
  • May 16 at E. Rivers Elementary School, 8 Peachtree Battle Avenue, NW
  • May 20 at B.E.S.T. Academy, 1190 Northwest Drive, NE

The school board is scheduled to tentatively approve the budget at its May 6 meeting and give final approval at its June 3 meeting.
