At the event, potential substitute teachers will learn more about being a Gwinnett criteria.

All applicants are required to have at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college credit from an accredited institution, but teacher certification is not required for substitutes.

Compensation ranges from $93 a day up to $103 per day for long-term subs (10 or more consecutive days in the same classroom).

What do you need to apply:

  • Complete and submit an online application
  • Provide a current or most recent reference
  • Provide college diploma or transcripts showing completion of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Complete GCPS Substitute Teacher Training Program (if you do not hold a valid or expired professional teaching certificate or if you have not completed a practicum or student teaching in Gwinnett County)

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted to attend Substitute Teacher Orientation.
