Baggett Elementary School and Lilburn Elementary School recently teamed up with Lowes and nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build 100 bunk beds for local families and hurricane victims.

SHP specializes in building beds for families in need. Its goal is to get children off floors and give them a good night’s sleep.

“What if we can get every child in school off the floor?” said Brian Buckwalter, president of SHP. “An entire community is coming together to make no kid sleeps on the floor.”

More than 300 volunteers helped build the beds, all of which are fully equipped with a new mattress, linens, comforter and pillow.

Local businesses and community members donated all the supplies and building materials.

Roughly 70 beds will be sent to victims who are still recovering from Hurricane Michael. The remaining beds will be donated to local residents in need.
