Gwinnett County schools: Human Resources director retires
Frances Davis, the Gwinnett County school system’s longtime Human Resources director and its top African-American administrator, retired effective Friday after more than two decades in the school district.
Davis was hired by the school district in 1992 and served as Associate Superintendent for Human Resources and Talent Management for 15 years.
District leaders have heaped praised upon Davis since her plans were announced in September.
“She has made such a tremendous impact on all of us,” school board member Carole Boyce said at the end of September’s board meeting. “She is a tremendous friend.”
Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks has said he will ask Davis to work on some special projects. He quipped in a recent speech that the school district will need shoes the size of 7-foot tall basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal to replace her.
Sid Camp, Gwinnett’s Executive Director for Staffing, will serve as interim Associate Superintendent for Human Resources and Talent Management until Davis’ replacement is named, district officials said.
