Tamra Watts, Tucker High School’s principal, has been reassigned, school district officials said Monday.
Watts became the school’s principal in May.
A letter sent to parents and staff from Regional Superintendent Trenton Arnold did not state why Watts was removed. It mostly discussed Interim Principal Robert Williams, a long-time substitute administrator who retired from the district in 2003 after his own 30-year education career.
Watts previously was principal at her alma mater, Towers High School. In an interview for the City of Tucker website, she mentioned doing double duty after she was chosen, leading staffs at both schools to finish the 2016-2017 school year.
“The first four weeks I did half the day (at Tucker) and half the day at Towers,” she recounts. “I had a lot of meetings with department heads (and) program heads…to understand the culture and climate for their departments.”
