The DeKalb County School District is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for one of its newest schools.

Attendees will gather at 10 a.m. to celebrate completion of the new Austin Elementary School, at 5321 Roberts Drive in Dunwoody, with residents and school district leaders.

According to a district announcement, the school is located on 10.2 acres of the 28-acre Dunwoody Park and Dunwoody Nature Center. The parcel was purchased from the city of Dunwoody and will move the school down the street from its current location, 5435 Roberts Drive.

Austin Elementary has been part of the DeKalb County School District since it opened in 1975. A new building was supposed to finish construction in 2018, but was delayed for several issues, including weather delays and rising construction costs.
