DeKalb School of the Arts ranks as DeKalb County’s top high school, U.S. News & World Report announced Wednesday in its annual list of best high schools in the country.

DeKalb School of the Arts was No. 75 on the list of best schools in the country, improving last year's ranking of No. 89.

It was the second best school in the state, behind the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, which also ranked No. 31 nationally. Two other DeKalb County Schools made the list — Chamblee Charter High School and Arabia Mountain High School. DeKalb Early Career Academy, ranked last year, received an honorable mention.

The rankings are based on student performance on state tests, graduation rates and how many students take AP exams and pass at least one.

More than 60 Georgia high schools are ranked among the best in the country under the U.S. News & World Report 2018 Best High Schools list.
