The DeKalb County Board of Education has scheduled its first virtual meeting, with the state of Georgia under a shelter-in-place order and banning gatherings larger than 10 people due to the coronavirus.

The district announced a school board meeting for April 15, with a virtual executive session to begin at 1 p.m., with a projected 2 p.m. start time for its committee of the whole meeting, followed by the district’s monthly business meeting. There was no mention of public comments.

The district, along with many metro Atlanta school districts, announced it would close buildings and move learning online as government officials urged a reduction in interaction to curb the spread of COVID-19. Officials announced recently that school buildings would not reopen this school year, which is slated to end in late May.
