Carmel Elementary School teacher Dr. Ann Harris recently was recognized for her many hours of service to the community. She was honored by the Modern Woodmen's Hometown Hero Program for being an outstanding teacher and mentor to children. Modern Woodmen member Garth Gherardini visited a recent faculty meeting to present Harris with a certificate and a $100 grant to be donated to the charitable organization of her choice. She selected Carmel Elementary School to receive the donation. "I'm so honored to be recognized with this," Harris said. "I love my job, but I also know that I couldn't do it without all the wonderful support I receive from my parapros, the administration and all the other wonderful educators at Carmel."
